TRANSPARENCY

At Fair Jewellery, we are working towards complete transparency. We want our customers to know about their jewellery’s journey. We are conscious of our carbon footprint, so use local, UK based suppliers as much as we can. We seek suppliers who share our values and who can demonstrate ethical practices within their industry.

WHO MADE YOUR JEWELLERY?

All Fair Jewellery items are hand made by Designer and Jeweller Hannah in her small studio by the sea in Brighton, United Kingdom. Hannah uses traditional techniques and makes by hand, sets stones and polishes every piece herself. The benefits of Fair Jewellery being a small independent brand means that we have greater control over our fair and responsible supply chain, to ensure our jewellery is handmade in a safe, clean and honest way.

METAL

Our commitment to you is to support ethical mining practices. We work with recycled silver and gold. We work with suppliers that reassure us that the precious metals we use is 100% recycled from scrap metal from sources ranging from the jewellery industry to industrial residues, used electronic scrap, automotive and industrial catalysts and fuel cells. Scrap metal from these sources is refined back to its pure form and re-alloyed before use meaning the silver and gold has the same molecular properties to “fresh metal” however it contains no newly mined materials. We have the assurance that this scrap material does is not purchased from conflict areas.

STONES

Our supplier of white diamonds and coloured gemstones are based in London’s Hatton Garden. Our diamond supplier is a company whose stones all comply with the Kimberly Process, and have been ethically sourced. We have the guarantee that our diamonds and coloured gemstones have not been used to fund conflict and the cutting and processing of gem materials is carried out in controlled environments where modern equipment and employment law is the norm, there is no exploitation, child or forced labour. We are working towards supplying our customers with fully traceable sourced diamonds and gemstones from around the world and hope to achieve this by 2022.

HALLMARKING

Each high-value Fair Jewellery item is assessed, hallmarked and certified by the London Assay Office so you can be assured of its quality. By hallmarking our jewellery, Fair Jewellery is giving their customers a guaranteed assurance label. The hallmark includes a makers mark, indicating that it was made my Fair Jewellery Limited. There is a mark indicating the purity and type of precious metal. And we are proud to carry the mark of London’s prestigious Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office which certifies that it was handmade in Britain.

PACKAGING

We have chosen an eco-friendly mailing bag as we wanted an alternative to the traditional polythene mailing bag. Both our mailing bag and packing tissue papers are sustainable forest products.

Our complimentary gift boxes have been carefully selected so that they are made using 100% recycled card and are handmade in the United Kingdom. Elements of our gift-box sadly cannot be recycled. However, this is something that we are making a conscious and consistent effort to seek out alternatives. We are committed to finding the best type of packaging, with the lowest environmental impact, working towards it being wholly recycled, and recyclable. In the meantime, we hope that like our jewellery, you will keep our gift-boxes for years to come!
